Client: Trustee of Methodist Church

We told our clients that theirs would be a modern interpretation of the Methodist Church building and would be in sharp contrast to the original church building next to the new one.

This church is located at the fringe of industrial Kuching with no views outside worth looking at – the church is therefore designed to look inward. It has a sombre exterior shell that reveals little of the lush and personable interior. The central volume is several storeys high with mezzanine floors that can accommodate 1500 in auditorium style seating. The undercroft space is used for car parking and an entrance lobby.

This Project won a Mention in the PAM Awards 2006.
